Historic archive of the journal “La Tribuna del Lago”, from 1980 to 2000. It was a voice for environmentalists and cultural historians dedicated to protecting, documenting and denouncing the destruction of the territory surrounding Lake Bracciano, and their only voice. It lasted for twenty years, twenty years of legal battles against corrupt administrators, greedy real estate speculators, illegal building on zoned land, polluters of the lake. Angela Zucconi, founder of this journal, dedicated her energy to the conservation of the rich cultural and natural patrimony of the lake territory, and “La Tribuna del Lago” became the means for informing its inhabitants

Angela Zucconi moved to Anguillara in 1962, and began fairly soon to form a small nucleus of collaborators around the lake who were concerned - like her - to protect its cultural and natural heritage. A local chapter of the national pressure group Italia Nostra was established. After many years of organized battles and efforts to stop the growing destruction of the environment, Angela founded the “Tribuna del Lago” and began its publication in 1980. She realized that for those who loved the beauty of the lake, the cultural value of the historical monuments, and valued their conservation, a voice was needed to expose the dangers and threats to their protection. Up to then no periodical nor journal existed in the three towns on the lake. After a long time others began to be published, but they were political or representative of private interests. “La Tribuna” remained above politics. It was extremely difficult for the local population to understand this, that the Italia Nostra group of volunteers and collaborators for the journal were disinterested, dedicated only to defending conservation and fighting destruction of the environment, without any private or business interests. To the local people, anyone involved in public activity had either political intentions or speculation aims.
The journal managed to survive for twenty years thanks to subscriptions, and to a contribution from the Acea (the Rome water authority) who encouraged its defense of the lake from pollution and building on its shores. Occasionally the journal was criticized for being too heavy-going, more scholarly than journalistic. But the aim was to publish documents of value to researchers, writers, journalists, students of town planning and architecture, and often basic to those involved in legal battles for the environment.
In the office an archive of documents of all kinds and photos on the territory was built up which became of great value and available to all in need of research material. With infinite sadness the “Tribuna del Lago” ended with its number 80. Because “La Tribuna” was in essence Angela Zucconi. And with her death, so ended the journal.
